How to Get Rid of Neck Lines and Tech Neck Wrinkles Without Surgery: What Actually Works
Last updated: September 2026By Beauty Ranch Medical Spa | Medically reviewed by the Beauty Ranch clinical team | Last updated September 11, 2026
Quick answer: Horizontal neck lines, often called tech neck lines, are treated by matching the treatment to what is causing them. For the lines themselves, SkinVive by Juvéderm is the only injectable FDA approved for neck lines (June 2026), with 74.8 percent of patients improved at one month. For loose or crepey neck skin, Ultherapy (FDA cleared for the neck) and XERF tighten. For texture, Potenza RF microneedling with Rejuran PDRN. For deeply etched lines and sun damage, fractional laser resurfacing and IPL. Botox helps only when vertical neck bands are part of the picture. At Beauty Ranch Medical Spa in Brentwood, Los Angeles, neck treatments are performed by a team of board-certified Physician Assistants and Registered Nurses under the direction of Nurse Jamie (Jamie Sherrill, RN).
Neck lines used to be something you noticed at 50. Now we see them at 30, and the reason is in your hand. Hours a day looking down at a phone folds the neck skin along the same horizontal creases thousands of times, and skin that thin does not bounce back forever. Add sun exposure (the neck rarely gets the SPF the face does), natural collagen loss, and rapid weight loss from GLP-1 medications, and you get the three complaints we hear most: horizontal lines, crepey texture, and loose skin.
The good news is that every one of those has a non-surgical answer, and one of them is brand new. This guide explains what causes neck lines, which treatments work for which problem, what they cost in Los Angeles, and what to skip.
A note on the term: if you searched "tech neck" because your neck hurts, that is a posture and muscle problem for a physical therapist. This guide is about the lines and skin changes that come from the same habit.

What Causes Neck Lines and Tech Neck Wrinkles?
There are four different things people call "neck lines," and they need different treatments.
- Horizontal lines (necklace lines, tech neck lines). Creases that run across the neck. Some people are born with them; most deepen from repetitive folding (looking down) and sun damage. These are in the skin itself.
- Crepey texture. Fine, thin, tissue-paper skin from collagen and elastin loss, sun and dehydration. Common after 40 and after rapid weight loss.
- Laxity. Loose skin along the jawline and under the chin that has lost its snap. This is what people mean by "Ozempic neck" or "turkey neck."
- Vertical bands. Cords that pop out when you clench, caused by the platysma muscle, not the skin.
Most necks have two or three of these at once, which is why one treatment rarely fixes everything and why the plan matters more than the product.
Treatment 1: SkinVive by Juvéderm for Horizontal Neck Lines (New in 2026)
For the lines themselves, there is now a treatment built specifically for the job. On June 16, 2026, the FDA approved SkinVive by Juvéderm to reduce neck lines for improvement of neck appearance in adults over 21, the first injectable approved for horizontal neck lines in the US. In the pivotal study, 74.8 percent of patients had a clinically meaningful improvement in neck lines at one month and 66 percent still had it at six months.
SkinVive is a hyaluronic acid microdroplet, not a volumizing filler. Tiny amounts are placed just under the skin along the neck to hold water, smooth the creases and improve skin quality without lumps or added volume, which has always been the risk with regular filler in the neck. Results build over two weeks and last up to six months. $450 per syringe; the neck usually takes one to two. Read our complete SkinVive guide or see SkinVive at Beauty Ranch.
Treatment 2: Ultherapy and XERF for Loose, Crepey Neck Skin
If the problem is laxity, lines will keep coming back until the skin is tighter.
Ultherapy
Ultherapy uses focused ultrasound to heat the deeper support layer of the skin and trigger collagen over three to six months. It is FDA cleared for the neck, under the chin and the décolletage, which makes it the most specifically cleared tightening option on our menu for this area. One treatment a year for most clients. From $2,500. See Ultherapy in Los Angeles and our Ultherapy cost guide.
XERF
XERF delivers radiofrequency energy to tighten the neck and jawline and rebuild collagen with no downtime. It is our most requested treatment for "Ozempic neck" and for clients who want tightening plus texture improvement in one plan. From $2,500. Read the complete XERF guide.
Ultherapy and XERF are often paired with SkinVive: tighten the skin first, then smooth the lines.
Treatment 3: Potenza RF Microneedling With Rejuran for Crepey Texture
For thin, crepey neck skin, Potenza RF microneedling creates controlled micro-channels while heating the dermis to build collagen. We combine it with Rejuran PDRN (the salmon sperm facial), either infused during the pass with the Potenza Fusion tip or applied right after the RF pass, to improve hydration, thickness and repair. A series of three, spaced about four weeks apart, with 24 to 48 hours of pinkness. Potenza from $1,200; Rejuran PDRN $600. See Potenza RF microneedling and our salmon sperm facial guide.
Treatment 4: Laser Resurfacing and IPL for Etched Lines and Sun Damage
When lines are deeply etched or the neck shows red and brown sun damage, resurfacing does what injectables cannot.
- Fractional CO2 (Edge One). The strongest option for etched lines and texture. Neck skin is treated at lower settings than the face because it heals more slowly. Deep treatments carry 7 to 10 days of downtime. See our Edge One CO2 guide.
- Superb Erbium and LaseMD. Lighter resurfacing for texture and fine lines with shorter downtime. See our Superb Erbium guide.
- ClearLift. No-downtime option for mild texture and early lines.
- Lumenis M22 IPL. Treats the mottled redness and brown spots (poikiloderma) on the neck and chest that make the area look older than it is. See our IPL photofacial guide.
Laser plans for the neck are quoted at consultation based on the technology and number of sessions.
Treatment 5: Botox for Neck Bands (and When It Does Not Help)
Botox does not treat horizontal neck lines. What it does is relax the platysma muscle so the vertical bands that pop out when you clench soften, and the jawline reads cleaner (the Nefertiti technique). If bands are part of your neck concern, Botox is added to the plan; if your issue is horizontal lines or crepiness, it is not the right tool. Botox is $15 per unit, Dysport $5.25 per unit, with neck treatments typically using 20 to 50 units. See our jowls guide for how the Nefertiti technique fits into the lower face.
Other Options: Sculptra and Kybella
Sculptra stimulates your own collagen over several months and is used on the neck in a diluted form to thicken crepey skin; it is an option when texture is the main issue and you want a gradual result. $1,000 per vial. Kybella is FDA approved for fat under the chin only; it sharpens the chin-to-neck angle but does nothing for lines. $600. See our Kybella guide.
Which Neck Treatment Do You Need?
| Your concern | Best first treatment | Add for a bigger result |
|---|---|---|
| Horizontal lines, skin still firm | SkinVive | Potenza with Rejuran |
| Horizontal lines plus crepiness | SkinVive plus Potenza and Rejuran | Ultherapy or XERF |
| Loose skin, "Ozempic neck" | Ultherapy or XERF | SkinVive at month 3, Kybella if fullness |
| Deep etched lines, sun damage | Fractional laser, M22 IPL | SkinVive after healing |
| Vertical bands when clenching | Botox (Nefertiti technique) | XERF |
| All of the above | Ultherapy or XERF first, then SkinVive, then Potenza | Laser for etched lines |

What Results Look Like and How Long They Last
SkinVive smooths lines within two weeks and lasts up to six months. Ultherapy and XERF tighten progressively over three to six months and last a year or more. Potenza and Rejuran improve texture over a series of three. Laser results are visible after healing and last years with sun protection. Botox lasts three to four months.
Before and after photos of neck treatments are shown at your consultation.
What You Can Do at Home (and What Will Not Work)
Daily SPF 30 or higher on the neck, a retinoid at night (start every third night; neck skin is sensitive), and holding your phone at eye level slow new lines down. Silicone neck patches can temporarily soften lines by hydrating the skin but do not change them. Neck creams cannot reach the dermis where lines live; they support results, they do not create them. Neck exercises and gua sha do not remove skin lines.

Frequently Asked Questions About Neck Lines
Can lines on the neck go away?
Yes, with the right treatment. SkinVive smooths horizontal neck lines for up to six months, laser resurfacing softens etched lines long term, and tightening treatments keep them from deepening. Topical products alone will not remove established lines.
How do you remove neck lines fast?
SkinVive gives the fastest change for horizontal lines, with visible smoothing in about two weeks. Botox works in about two weeks for vertical bands. Tightening treatments take three to six months.
Are neck lines permanent?
Established lines do not disappear on their own, but they are treatable. Lines that are only visible when you look down are the easiest to improve.
Why do I have neck lines at 15 or in my 20s?
Some horizontal neck lines are genetic and present from childhood, and phone posture deepens them early. Sun protection and posture slow them down; SkinVive is approved for adults over 21.
Does Botox get rid of neck lines?
No. Botox treats vertical platysmal bands and jawline pull, not horizontal lines. For horizontal lines, SkinVive, resurfacing or microneedling are used.
What is the best treatment for tech neck wrinkles?
For the lines, SkinVive by Juvéderm, the only injectable FDA approved for neck lines. For crepey or loose skin around them, Ultherapy, XERF or Potenza with Rejuran. Most clients combine two.
Is SkinVive approved for the neck?
Yes, since June 16, 2026. In the clinical study, 74.8 percent of patients improved at one month and 66 percent maintained improvement at six months.
What is Ozempic neck and how is it treated?
Loose, crepey neck skin that appears after rapid weight loss on GLP-1 medications. It is treated with tightening (Ultherapy or XERF), then SkinVive or Potenza with Rejuran for texture, and Kybella if there is remaining fullness under the chin. See our Ozempic face guide.
Who performs neck treatments at Beauty Ranch?
Beauty Ranch''s team of board-certified Physician Assistants and Registered Nurses, under the direction of Nurse Jamie (Jamie Sherrill, RN).
